From the Circle of Quiet Things • Reflections that grow behind Otto & Bear’s Letters.
There’s a quiet space that lives between story and ancestral memory. It’s the place where fireflies hover, where children’s laughter ripples through tall grass and where Earth herself leans in to listen. This place is where The Circle of Quiet Things began.
I never set out to create this place; I only followed a shimmer - the same shimmer that led a small boy named Bear and a jungle cat named Otto toward each other in the mountains of northern Thailand. What began as our real life; mornings with cacao, evenings with frogs and fireflies, grew roots in memory. And from that memory, the story, a field of remembering, took shape: Otto & Bear’s Letters.
This Circle is the hearth beside that field. It’s where I come to share the quiet pieces that don’t fit inside the letters - the behind-the-scenes threads, the teachings that hum beneath the tales, the way Earth keeps whispering her teachings, memories, and wisdom; remembering herself through you.
You’ll find reflections from our travels through jungles and mountains, fragments of ancestral wisdom that guided us, and the small wonders that still unfold here in the English countryside. Some posts will feel like letters, others like footprints in soft soil. All are written with the same seed: that they help you remember the living world as kin, and the shimmer that is already guiding you home.
To enter Otto & Bear’s story world, you can read the free illustrated tale, A Quiet Story for You.
